Starting mental health treatment can feel like a big step. Some people feel a bit of concern about opening up to a therapist, others may just be apprehensive about the unknown. The good news is that your first mental health appointment is designed to take all of that into account.
At New Mind Wellness Center, your first visit to our outpatient mental health program in Pennsylvania is focused on understanding your needs, helping you feel comfortable, and creating a clear plan for moving forward one step at a time.
Before your first mental health appointment at New Mind, we’ll ask you for some preliminary information. We often complete this first step over the phone, for your convenience.

When you arrive, whether you are in our partial hospitalization program, intensive outpatient program, or standard outpatient therapy, the process is similar to a typical healthcare visit.
You’ll check in, confirm any remaining paperwork, and spend a few moments getting settled before treatment begins.
Your first appointment usually includes a comprehensive mental health assessment, sometimes called an intake.
